A study of religion in the United States, beginning with its European context and culminating in the current trends and projections for the future. The class will focus on the development of both Christian and non-Christian traditions, including Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Mormon and others, as well as the development of various Eastern faith communities. Attention will also be given to the political, social and cultural contexts of various religious movements and traditions with additional emphasis given to women and minorities for their contributions to the national religious landscape.
