||On behalf of our faculty, staff and the college administration, I would like to welcome you to Volunteer State Community College. This fall semester marks our 37th year of providing quality, accessible higher education and workforce training to northern middle Tennessee. By choosing to attend Volunteer State, you have joined a diverse and growing population of individuals who have decided to make their lives and their communities better through education. You have also chosen to attend a college that is committed to excellence, as proven by the honors bestowed on your fellow classmates.
Our commitment to excellence can be seen in all areas of our College - from faculty to facilities to programs, all of which serve as enhancements to your educational experience here at Volunteer State. From award-winning faculty and students, to cutting edge technology and facilities, you will find a wealth of resources and inspiration to aid your personal quest for achievement and success through higher education.
Volunteer State Community College is a great choice for your education for many reasons. However, the most important reason has to do with the care and concern you receive here to prepare you for the challenges of the future, regardless of your goals. Our Language, Math and Science labs offer extensive support to assist any student with learning and developmental needs related to the chosen subject. Likewise, our NewSkills Center provides structured one-on-one developmental support to help students establish a firm foundation in the basics of education. Our federally funded TRIO Program provides eligible Volunteer State students increased educational opportunities to promote academic success. The care and concern you receive at Volunteer State, with respect to you educational needs, will truly make a difference in your journey forward after you leave this institution.
In addition to our commitment to your educational success, you will find our student body to be just as determined for success and excellence as the faculty and administrators. The Pioneer, our student magazine, has won the Mark of Excellence Award by the Society of Professional Journalists three times in the past four years. Squatter's Rites has also received a string of awards in the American Scholastic Press Association annual magazine competition. Across our campus, you will find students going far beyond the expectations of the classroom, to achieve excellence through their participation in student clubs, groups and activities.
You have made an honorable decision by pursuing your college education. Our goal at Volunteer State is for you to feel new and improved after spending some time with us in this academic community. I wish you the very best during your time here at Volunteer State Community College, and congratulations on taking the first step to educational achievement.
