BIOL 1030 - ^Essentials of Biology This is a one-semester course covering selected topics in Life Science. Topics include: the scientific method, the chemistry of life, the cell and functions of cellular organelles, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, protein synthesis, genetics, DNA, cell reproduction, evolution, microbes, fungi, plants, animals, and ecology.
Credit in only one of the following courses can be used toward graduation or general education requirements: BIOL 1010 , BIOL 1020 , BIOL 1030, BIOL 1110 , BIOL 1120 .
Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall, Spring, Summer Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Writing or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 0810 as determined by placement. Corequisites: BIOL 1030 Laboratory Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 30 lab hours per semester General Education: Course can be used to meet Minimum General Education Core requirements.
