BIOL 1110 - ^General Biology I


This is a comprehensive course emphasizing cell biology, molecular biology, metabolism, genetics, and the evolution of biological diversity. This course is meant to satisfy the natural science or area of emphasis requirements of the Biology, Pre-Dental Hygiene, Pre-Health Professions, Pre-Occupational Therapy, Pre-Physical Therapy, and Psychology curricula. It is highly recommended that students take CHEM 1030  prior to this class if they do not possess a strong science background.

Credit in only one of the following courses can be used toward graduation or general education requirements BIOL 1010 ,  BIOL 1030 , BIOL1110.

Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall, Spring
Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading, and acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Writing or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 0810  as determined by placement, either successful completion (grade of C or higher) of both high school biology and chemistry or successful completion (grade of C or higher) of either BIOL 1030 , CHEM 1030 , or CHEM 1110 .
Corequisites: BIOL 1110 Laboratory
Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 45 lab hours per semester
General Education: Course can be used to meet Minimum General Education Core requirements.
