MECH 2440 - *Process Control Technologies


This course is a study of the Process Control technologies associated with a complex mechatronics system. Topics covered will include the Closed Loop Control; interaction between controllers, sensors and actuators; controller operating parameters; PID controllers; ON/OFF and PID controllers; and the differences between controllers typically used in mechatronic systems. The analysis of plant documentation and manuals, the creation and interpretation of charts with diagrams for time-based changes of measured values will also be covered.

Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall
Prerequisites: MECH 1310  and ACT Math subscore of 19 or equivalent or completion of MATH 1005  with a C or higher
Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 30 lab hours per semester
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs
This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but it has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
