CHEM 1110 - ♦General Chemistry I This course is a comprehensive study of chemical principles designed for students pursuing a career in chemistry or other scientific areas. Emphasis will be on atomic structure, bonding, formulas, equations, nomenclature and stoichiometry. Also included in the course are states of matter, hybridization, and molecular geometry. The laboratory will consist of a number of quantitative experiments designed to teach basic techniques including the use of laboratory instrumentation. (Same as TN eCampus CHEM 11l0)
Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and Writing and an ACT MATH subscore of 19 (or equivalent) or completion of MATH 1005 with a grade of C or higher and one year of high school Chemistry or completion of CHEM 1030 with a grade of C or higher.
Must have completed or be concurrently enrolled in: MATH 1130 , MATH 1710 , or a higher course Corequisites: CHEM 1110L
