BIOL 1010 - ^Introduction to Biology

This course is an introduction to the biological sciences with an emphasis on basic concepts of the "building blocks of life" at the molecular and cellular levels. Functions of cellular organelles, photosynthesis, cellular respiration, protein synthesis, genetics, cell reproduction, and evolution will be emphasized.

Credit in only one of the following courses can be used toward graduation or general education requirements: BIOL 1010, BIOL 1030 , BIOL 1110 .

Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Writing or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 0810 as determined by placement.
Corequisites: BIOL 1010 Laboratory
Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 30 lab hours per semester
General Education: Course can be used to meet Minimum General Education Core requirements.
