OPHT 2223 - *Introduction to Ophthalmic Diseases


Basic characteristics of common ocular disorders will be presented in this course. Included in the course are: the anterior segment, ocular adnexa, posterior segment diseases and conditions most common to the ophthalmology practice. A review of systemic diseases relating to ocular conditions will be presented as well as common diagnostic and therapeutic treatments. Triage for ocular emergencies will be presented in detail.

Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall
Prerequisites: Formal admission into the Ophthalmic Technician Program.
Corequisites: OPHT 2202  , OPHT 2312  ,OPHT 2350  , OPHT 2310  
Contact Hours: 30 lecture hours per semester

Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs
This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but it has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
