ASTR 1030 - ^Astronomy


This course is a study of the universe beginning with the earth-moon system, then the solar system including the sun, planets, and minor bodies, continuing to other stars and galaxies. Properties and evolution of planets, stars, and galaxies are studied. Laboratory exercises include sky observations and constellation study.

Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall, Spring
Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and Writing or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 0810 and READ 0810 as determined by placement and completion of MATH 1005  , MATH 1130  , MATH 1710   or higher with a grade of C or higher.
Corequisites: ASTR 1030 Laboratory
Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 30 lab hours per semester

General Education: Course can be used to meet Minimum General Education Core requirements.
