GEOL 1030 - ♦Essentials of Geology This is a one-semester survey including topics in physical and historical geology, earth materials, plate tectonics, geologic structures, landforms, geologic time, fossils and earth history. This course is intended for students whose program of study requires one semester of laboratory science, or may be combined with ASTR 1030, BIOL 1030, BIOL 1050, PHYS 1030, PSCI 1030, ISCI 1030, or CHEM 1030 in satisfying the eight-hour general education natural science requirement.
Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and Writing; and completion of all learning support competencies in Math, or completion of MATH 1010 or MATH 1530. Corequisites: GEOL 1030L
Contact Hours: Three lecture hours per week Laboratory Hours: Two field/laboratory hours per week General Education: Course can be used to meet Minimum General Education Core requirements. Credits: (4)
