VET 101 - *Introduction to Veterinary Technology


This course begins building the skill sets required to succeed in the care and handling of animals.  Areas of emphasis will include:  restraint techniques, care and feeding, basic nursing care, venipuncture, client relations, microscope care and usage and other basic skills utilized by animal caregivers, animal lab researchers and/or practicing veterinary technicians.

Semester Availability:  FALL ONLY - Semester availability is subject to change.  See your advisor.

Course may be offered through RODP.

PREREQUISITES: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading, Writing, and Mathematics.  Admission to the Veterinary Technology Program.
Hours: Three lecture/laboratory hours per week.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs

This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
