The Associate of Science in Sociology is a two-year program for students planning to continue their education to earn a bachelor’s degree in the field of sociology.  Professional careers in the field of sociology typically require a master’s degree or a doctoral degree, depending on the career path one is pursuing.  One can find careers in a variety of areas such as criminal justice (corrections), business (consumer research), agencies (disability services), advocacy (child welfare), communications (technical writing), and in government and education.  However, with an A.S. degree in sociology, one can often find a job in the following areas: civil service, crisis intervention, counselor aide or assistant, case work, and mentoring.
