EMSX 1350 - *Introduction to EMTB/A This lecture course is designed to provide the student with the knowledge of an entry-level Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMTB). The following topics will be included: Emergency Medical Technician Basic-National Educational Standards competencies, roles and responsibilities of the EMTB, workforce safety, wellness, public health, communications, documentation, EMS operations, medical/legal/ethical considerations, fundamental anatomy and physiology, life span development, fundamental pathophysiology, patient assessment, airway management, respiratory emergencies, cardiovascular emergencies, acute diabetic emergencies, abdominal and gastrointestinal emergencies, urologic emergencies, anaphylactic reactions, pharmacology appropriate to the basic level and behavioral emergencies appropriate to the Emergency Medical Technician Basic (EMTB) level. (This course was previously EMSA 1350.)
Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall, Spring Prerequisites: Admission to the AAEMT program Corequisites: EMSX 1150 , EMSX 1250 , EMSX 1260 , EMSX 2250 , EMSX 2260 , and EMSX 2650 Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours per semester Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs
This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution.
