STEM 1400 - Foundations of Research Methods


The best understanding of science and research comes from actually doing science and research. This course provides a hands-on learning experience to develop the skills needed to exhibit good laboratory technique, identify and develop a research question, design and conduct an experiment, properly collect data, and appropriately draw and present conclusions. Fundamental lab techniques and basic statistical analyses will be introduced.

Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall, Spring
Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and Writing or concurrent enrollment in ENGL 0810 and READ 0810 as determined by placement and an ACT Math subscore of 19 (or equivalent) or completion of MATH 1005, MATH 1130, MATH 1710 or higher with a grade of C or higher.
Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 30 lab hours per semester
