EMSP 1801 - *Fundamentals of Paramedic I


Fundamentals of Paramedic I is the first of two lecture courses to include the following topics: paramedic roles, responsibilities, workforce safety, wellness, public health, communications, documentation, EMS operations, medical/legal considerations, anatomy and physiology, life span development, general pathophysiology, general pharmacology, patient assessment, critical thinking, airway management, respiratory emergencies and introduction to cardiology.

Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Fall, Spring, Summer
Prerequisites: Formal admission to the Paramedic program
Corequisites: EMSP 1401  and EMSP 1311  
Contact Hours: 120 lecture hours per semester

Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs
This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but it has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
