The course includes strategies for college success. Campus resources, college culture and traditions, mindset, personal responsibility, self-motivation, self-management, interdependence, self-awareness, and emotional intelligence are emphasized.
Degree-seeking students admitted or re-admitted to Vol State Fall 2020 or later are required to successfully complete FYEX 1030 and 1040 if it is noted as a requirement for their program of study in the Catalog. Students, who at the time of admission or re-admission, that have earned 15 college-level credit hours with a 3.0 or higher inclusive GPA or have earned 30 college-level credit hours are exempt from this degree requirement. Students required to take FYEX 1030 and 1040 are strongly encouraged to start the sequence in their first semester; a hold preventing registration will be placed on student records if both courses are not successfully completed within their first 24 hours at Vol State.
