VTA 120 - *Veterinary Assistant Nursing


This course begins building the skill sets required to succeed in the care and handling of animals.  Areas of emphasis will include: breeds, behavior, restraint techniques, care and feeding, basic nursing and grooming care, sanitation, zoonotic disease, and other basic skills utilized by animal caregivers, animal lab researchers and/or practicing veterinary assistants. Semester Availability: FALL ONLY - Semester Availability is subject to change.  See your advisor. Course may be offered through TN eCampus.

Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and Writing 
Contact Hours: Three lecture/laboratory hours per week
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs
This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but it has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
