GEOL 1040 - ♦Physical Geology


This course is an introduction to the physical geology of the earth including composition, structure and evolution. Laboratory and field experiences involve rock and mineral identification, along with map and field interpretation of geologic structures.

Prerequisites: Acceptable placement scores or completion of all Learning Support Competencies in Reading and Writing and an ACT MATH subscore of 19 (or equivalent) or completion (with a grade of C or higher) of MATH 1005 , MATH 1130 , MATH 1710  or a higher course
Corequisites: GEOL 1040L

Contact Hours: Three lecture hours per week
Laboratory Hours: Two field/laboratory hours per week
General Education: Course can be used to meet Minimum General Education Core requirements.
