VET 220* - Veterinary Anesthesia and Surgery This course will prepare the student for proper operation of a surgical suite and management of anesthetized animals. Students will calculate anesthetic dosages, learn the proper function and maintenance of gas anesthesia machines, monitor anesthetized animals and practice skills such as intubation and mechnical ventilation. Asepsis, autoclaving, surgical instrument care and cleaning will also be included.
PREREQUISITES: Completion of VET 101*, VET 110* and VET 120* with a grade of “C” or higher. Hours: Three lecture, two laboratory hours per week. Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
