PARA 1010* - Paramedic Theories I (Medical Emergencies)


 Using the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for Paramedic this course discusses advanced theories of EMS practice and treatment modalities based on normal physiology of human body systems and how these systems are related during medical emergencies.  Discussion includes the Anatomy, Physiology and Pathophysiology of body systems typically affected in medical emergencies.  Applying knowledge of life span development, well-being and illness prevention, discussions focus on EMS clinical decision making and therapeutic communication in adult medical emergencies and resuscitations. 

PREREQUISITES: Selection into the Paramedical Program. 
COREQUISITES: PARA 1020*, PARA 1030*, PARA 1040*, PARA 1050C*.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs.  This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
