MATH 100P* - Mathematics Practicum


A course designed to (1) refine and reinforce the practitioner’s mathematical skills and understanding, (2) expose the student to current issues in the teaching of mathematics as a profession, (3) train specially selected math students as peer tutors, and (4) provide Service Learning opportunities for cooperative learning in the VSCC mathematics laboratory, online, and in the local community. 

PREREQUISITES: An acceptable placement score, DSPM 0850 or MATH 1000 or higher. Math faculty recommendation and permission of the instructor required. 
Hours: Average of five laboratory/practicum hours per week.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
