RESP 1430 - *Arterial Blood Gas Analysis and Diagnostic ProceduresThis course is a study of the heart, lung and renal organ systems. The respiratory system is addressed as it relates to ventilatory mechanics, gas transport and exchange, acid-base physiology, neurological and chemical control of respiration, fluid and electrolyte balance, ventilation and perfusion, pharmacology, and introduction to pulmonary function testing. Interpretation of blood gas values and their application to patient care will be presented. Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Spring Prerequisites: Acceptance into the Respiratory Care Program. Corequisites: RESP 1410 , RESP 2440 Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 30 lab hours per semester Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution.
