VET 220 - *Veterinary Anesthesia and SurgeryThis course will prepare the student for proper operation of a surgical suite and management of anesthetized animals. Students will calculate anesthetic dosages, learn the proper function and maintenance of gas anesthesia machines, monitor anesthetized animals and practice skills such as intubation and mechanical ventilation. Asepsis, autoclaving, surgical instrument care and cleaning will also be included. Semester Availability: (Subject to Change) Spring Prerequisites: VET 110 and VET 130 (all with a grade of C or higher) Corequisites: VET 220 Laboratory Contact Hours: 45 lecture hours, 45 lab hours per semester Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but it has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
