PARA 1510 - *Paramedic Fundamentals II


A continuation of Paramedic Fundamentals I, this course is an introduction to the psychomotor skills commonly used when treating trauma patients in the prehospital setting.  Applying knowledge of Human Anatomy and Physiology as well as treatment modalities to the acquisition of psychomotor skills focused on traumatic scenarios.  During this course skills to be covered include but are not limited to:  endotracheal intubation of immobilized patients, needle chest decompression, intraosseous infusions, surgical crichothyrotomy etc.

Semester Availability: SPRING ONLY - Semester availability is subject to change.  See your advisor.

PREREQUISITES: PARA 1010*. 
COREQUISITES: PARA 1500, PARA 1520, PARA 1530, PARA 1540C.
Hours: One lecture and four lab hours per week.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs

This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
