PARA 1000 - *Introduction to Advanced Emergency Medical Services


Using the National Emergency Medical Services Education Standards for Paramedic this course introduces advanced theories of EMS practice and treatment modalities based on normal anatomy and physiology of human body systems and how these systems are related during medical emergencies.  Discussion includes the Anatomy and Physiology of body systems and an introduction to the psychomotor skills required to function as a Paramedic.   

Semester Availability: SUMMER ONLY - Semester availability is subject to change.  See your advisor.

PREREQUISITES: Selection into the Paramedic Program.
Hours: Six lecture hours per week.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs

This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
