MLT 113 - *Clinical Microbiology

Processing and handling of clinical materials for microbiological culture with emphasis on aseptic technique, sterilization procedures, and specimen handling and treatment. Use of media and special reagents for proper identification of microorganisms is included along with antibiotic susceptibility testing, blood culture techniques, and differential staining.

PREREQUISITES: Program Restriction-Enrollment limited to students admitted to the Program.
Hours: Thirty lecture and 30 lab hours per semester.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs

This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
