PARA 1040* - Advanced Cardiac Care
A course designed to apply advanced skills and critical thinking skills with a focus on adult and pediatric resuscitation. Emphasis is on scenario based patient encounters reflecting real world emergency situations using an Assessment Based Management approach. Scenarios are presented that require critical thinking and ethical judgments in regard to patient treatment and transport decisions. Advanced CardiacLie Support (ACLS) and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) curricula are extensively reviewed.
PREREQUISITES: Selection into the Paramedic Program.
COREQUISITES: PARA 1010*, PARA 1020*, PARA 1030*, PARA 1050C*.
Vocational/Career Program Designation: *Designated primarily for vocational/career programs. This course may be accepted as transfer credit by some colleges and universities, but that decision is made by the receiving institution. This course is collegiate level work, but has been developed with a purpose other than being a university parallel course.
